Next Generation Tools For Law Firms

For nearly 30 years, AAC Consulting has come alongside law firms to handle a wide range of major implementations, mergers, custom reports, and much more. Our consultants keep track of developments in legal tech to help clients stay ahead of the curve. This is why we’re watching and exploring AI and next generation reporting tools.

In June, The LegalTech Fund mapped the market of early stage-generative AI legal tech: “With use cases exponentially growing and over $850M in capital raised across our landscape’s constituents, it’s clear that generative AI is not just a buzzword but a powerful tool reshaping the legal industry.” Ironclad's 2024 State of AI in Legal highlights "AI’s potential to take over mundane and unsatisfying tasks contributing to lawyer burnout.” Firms are experimenting. In a recent On the Road with Studio A podcast episode, Aderant CTO Andy Hoyt hears from Jason Schultz and Sarah Alt of Michael Best about how their firm is leaning into the internal R&D needed to gain early wins with AI adoption.

For Aderant users, the announcement of Stridyn shows how AI and new reporting tools are on the horizon even in established industry platforms. While Power BI came out in 2011, just last year Microsoft introduced Copilot for Power BI, allowing users to ask questions of their reports and generate new reports using conversational language. Microsoft’s Azure and Fabric are both powerful platforms for AI analytics. We expect the pace of firms upgrading their reporting from legacy platforms to accelerate.

These changes are exciting, but adoption can be overwhelming. The speed and uncertainty can far outpace the time it takes to deliberate over safe integration. Top of mind for law firms and for AAC is the protection of sensitive client data, firm practices, and the production of reliable output. This is why AAC remains your trusted partner to face the future with the highest standards of technical expertise and industry standards.
